Stephen Goyen, Energy Edge

Stephen joined the Energy Edge team with over 12 years experience in the financial and energy markets. Steve brings a broad range of risk management, trading and revenue management skills, having acted as a Corporate Trader in the foreign exchange, diesel and electricity energy markets.

During his eight years in the electricity markets, Stephen has represented the electricity purchasing needs for some of Australia’s largest industrial users, and devised and negotiated complex innovative electricity contracting products and the associated legal contracts supporting these arrangements. As an Energy Trader at Ergon Energy he gained experience in both electricity contract trading and renewable energy trading. He was responsible for managing the Renewable Energy position of Ergon Energy, which also entailed managing the contractual arrangements for over 25 Power Purchase Agreements, one of the largest renewable energy portfolio’s of co-generation in Australia at the time.

He has further been instrumental in the organizational development of electricity trading teams, the implementation of new power stations, and the revision and implementation of new trading policies and procedures for both electricity retailing and generation companies.

Prior to involvement in the electricity sector Steve spent 3½ years as a Corporate Foreign Exchange trader for a major international airline, responsible for the operational and capital expenditure foreign exchange exposures of that airline. In this role Steve supported the diesel hedging capability and was responsible for the review of operational procedures that supported the alignment of corporate policies.

Prior to entering he field of risk management Stephen had worked on the development, implementation and support of a number of major computer systems for major corporations, and so brings a breadth and depth of experience suited to most corporate environments.
